CAIR

CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, presents itself as a civil rights organization for American Muslims. However, it has a troubling history of antisemitism and support for extremist ideologies. CAIR’s executive director, Nihad Awad, praised Hamas’ October 7 terrorist attacks on Israeli civilians as an act of “self-defense,” expressing happiness at the massacre. This shocking statement aligns with CAIR’s long-standing antagonism towards Israel and the Jewish people, which goes beyond mere political disagreement to a distorted view of Islam itself. Despite its claims of promoting justice, CAIR has shown a highly selective approach to human rights issues, focusing disproportionately on criticizing Israel while remaining largely silent on the numerous human rights abuses in the Muslim world. CAIR’s troubling associations extend beyond its rhetoric. In 2007, CAIR was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing case. This designation, while not a formal charge, linked CAIR to Hamas, a US-designated terrorist organization.
