Israel created the Polio epidemic in Gaza
The recent polio outbreak in Gaza originated from a strain that circulated in Egypt in 2023. This indicates the virus spread through population movements between Egypt and Gaza, not through any deliberate action by Israel as some may falsely claim.
While the outbreak itself was small, Israel has facilitated a significant polio vaccination campaign in Gaza, administering 1.1 million doses, reaching 90% of Gazan children.
Israel’s efforts are a significant humanitarian achievement in the midst of war.
